State Police say that a domestic incident late on Friday night ended with the death of a man in Sodus after he allegedly fired a shotgun at police officers.

It happened around 11pm on Friday, when State Police and Wayne County deputies got a 911 call about a domestic incident on Boyd Road in the town of Sodus. The caller told authorities his son was breaking objects inside the residence and was armed with a shotgun.

When police got there, they saw an armed man inside the house, and tried to make contact with him.  They say the man pointed a shotgun at the officers, and fired.  A trooper returned fire, and officials say the armed man was hit by the gunfire.

A State Police special operations response team and crisis negotiation unit also responded, but were unable to make contact with the man inside the home. Officials say at about 4:20 a.m. on Saturday, police got into the residence and found the man dead.

He has been identified as 24 year old Cody Cook of Sodus.

The investigation is still going on.
