We continue our series of conversations with candidates for office.
This hour, we sit down with Peter Vazquez, who is running for Monroe County Clerk. We discuss his background, priorities for office, and he answers our questions and yours.
Our guest:
- Peter Vazquez, candidate for Monroe County Clerk
Key issues raised by candidate during "Connections" appearance:
- Vazquez said the County Clerk’s Office should “be run more like a corporation or a nonprofit” and “100% focused on the customers.”
- He argued that the COVID-19 pandemic presented a chance for innovation, saying, “The funding was there, and the opportunity was there to make significant changes. I didn’t see any of that, which is what led me to throw my name in for this run.”
- Vazquez said he would turn mobile DMVs into a mobile County Clerk’s Office, to bring services “directly into people’s communities.”
- He also said he would work to ease the process of applying for a pistol permit and work with the Board of Elections to ensure that the voter registration data they’re receiving from the DMV offices is the same as what the County Clerk’s Office received.
