Giant sea creatures float through downtown Rochester

Giant inflatable sea creatures made their way into downtown Rochester on Saturday night as part of this year’s KeyBank Rochester Fringe Festival.

A performance by the French street theater troupe Plasticiens Volants had to be canceled Friday night due to high winds.

But they did two shows on Saturday night, as the group turned downtown into a giant aquarium with the U.S. premiere of Pearl: Secrets of the Sea.

Using giant inflatable puppets, the first show on Saturday night began with a 20-minute promenade of sea creatures – including a 60-foot whale – that started at Chestnut St. & East Ave. The performance also involved  a gigantic sea serpent, an enormous octopus, and a precious pearl.
