A number of ceremonies were held all over our area Wednesday to mark the 12th anniversary of the 9-11 attacks. Among them, the annual observance held at the 9-11 memorial at MCC. That memorial was built with the help of student leaders in 2002.
This year, Adrian Hale was the keynote speaker. He is an MCC student who served in the Army in Afghanistan from 2007 to 2012. Hale says one of the reasons he got into the military is because of what happened in 2001.
"When I enlisted the war in Iraq was still raging on. So me and a lot of people in my generation enlisted at that time because we wanted to support the war effort, because we were moved and affected by the acts on 9-11."
Also speaking at the MCC ceremony was Nelson Clark, a 39 year old student there who spent two tours as a Marine Corporal in Afghanistan.
