The Monroe County Department of Public Health said Monday that three more people have died of COVID-19, bringing the county's death toll to 239.
The number of people in hospitals for treatment of the disease has begun to rise again, too, after nearly a week of declines. The health department said 169 people were hospitalized with COVID-19 on Monday, up from 164 on Saturday.
Of those hospitalized, 17 were on ventilators in intensive care units, the county said -- up one from Saturday, but still well below the peak of 39 recorded in early April.
The county confirmed 18 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday after receiving the results of hundreds of diagnostic tests, the health department said.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo and other public officials have urged anyone who attended a protest to get tested for the virus.
