The Rochester City School District has announced the appointment of a new Chief Financial Officer.
Robert Franklin will fill that job, which became vacant after the resignation last month of Everton Sewell. He left after school board members and district officials learned of a $30 million budget gap, after they said they had been told in May that last year’s spending plan was balanced.
Franklin’s resume includes about 20 years in leadership and senior management roles with Monroe County, including having served as Deputy Commissioner of Human Services from 2008 to 2013.
He has also served as Director of Financial Assistance for the Human Services Department and as Finance Manager and Contract Management Coordinator for Monroe County. Currently, Franklin serves as Monroe County’s Chief Financial Officer, a position he has held since January 2013.
He will take the new job with RCSD on January 2.
