Dawn Nguyen and attorney Matt Parinello leaving Tuesday's Federal Court hearing.

State Supreme Court Judge Thomas Moran on Monday sentenced Dawn Nguyen to the maximum one and a third to four years in prison on her conviction of falsifying a business record.

Nguyen was convicted of lying on a registration form when she purchased two weapons in 2010. Authorities say Nguyen then gave the guns to her former neighbor, William Spengler, who used them to ambush West Webster firefighters responding to a fire at his Lake Road home on Christmas Eve of 2012.

The shootings killed Webster firefighters Tomasz Kaczowka and Michael Chiapperini and injured two others, Ted Scardino and Joseph HofstetterSpengler, a convicted felon, was prohibited from owning weapons.

Nguyen still faces charges in federal court.
