Search Warrant Used In Connection With 1978 Fatal Hotel Fire In Greece

Investigators in Greece on Thursday  searched a fire department headquarters in connection with a deadly hotel fire that happened 35 years ago.

The search warrant was used  at the Ridge Road Fire District building on Long Pond Road. Greece Police tell us the reason is  to seek evidence  that is pertinent to  the fire at a Holiday Inn on West Ridge Road in Greece in 1978 that killed ten people.

That November 26th incident is considered an arson fire, and a task force has been investigating the fire, a group that includes Greece and State Police, the FBI,  ATF agents and the district attorney’s office.

Police say this search warrant did collect evidence, but the nature of that evidence will not be disclosed right now. Authorities do say that no arrests were made and no arrests are anticipated in the near future.

Captain Patrick Phelan calls this one of the most horrific crimes that has ever happened in Greece, and he says police will never stop trying to solve it.
