There are more specifics now regarding the upcoming layoffs at Bausch and Lomb.
After Valeant Pharmaceuticals announced this week it had completed its acquisition of the Rochester based eye care company, a Valeant official said the number of layoffs would be under 500. Governor Cuomo’s office said it would be around 400, and now a notice filed with the New York State Labor Department pegs the number of layoffs at 408.
106 positions will be cut at the downtown Rochester office building and 302 at the North Goodman Street facility.
The layoffs are expected to be spread out over the next several months. Valeant officials have said they expect to continue with manufacturing and research and development operations in Rochester which involving about a thousand employees.
