Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

The Monroe County Department of Public Health reported Thursday that two more people have died of COVID-19, bringing the county's death toll from the disease to 230.

More than 3,000 people have now tested positive for the novel coronavirus in the county, the health department said. The 33 new cases reported on Thursday included one person under 20 years old and three women in their 90s.

The number of people in hospitals for COVID-19 treatment in the county fell for a fourth straight day, according to the health department's figures. There were 178 people hospitalized on Thursday, down from Sunday's peak of 195.

Of those hospitalized, 17 were on ventilators in intensive care units, the health department said.
