Two local retailers are slated to close in the Rochester area.
A spokesman for Sears Holdings, tells WXXI News that the Kmart store at 950 Ridge Road in Webster will close in late July, with a liquidation sale on May 11th.
The statement says the company has been strategically and aggressively evaluating its store space and have accelerated the closing of unprofitable stores as previously announced.
The spokesman says employees at that store will have the opportunity to apply for open positions at other area Sears or Kmart stores.
There’s also a report in the D&C that Gander Mountain in Henrietta is closing. The company’s website refers to all of its locations going out of business, although there are reports the company Camping World Holdings, which bought the brand, may keep some locations open.
A company spokesperson did not return requests for comment.
