Irondequoit Police say the man found dead on Helendale Road Saturday has been identified as Edward "Ted" Boucher.
The 65-year-old was reported missing from the Town of Brighton by his family Friday. At that time, police said Boucher’s blue 2020 Audi R8 was found unoccupied on a residential street in Irondequoit.
Both Irondequoit and State Police continue to investigate but there is no other immediate information on the cause of death.
Boucher was a well known area businessman and philanthropist. He was chairman of Caldwell Manufacturing, a company founded in 1888, which is a worldwide supplier of both residential and commercial window and door hardware.
Boucher was an active supporter of a variety of organizations, including Geva Theatre. The theatre posted on its Facebook page Monday "It is with deep sorrow that we pause to honor the life and legacy of our friend and Trustee Ted Boucher, who died unexpectedly over the weekend. The Boucher family has been a bedrock among Geva supporters for many years.”
Jennifer Leonard, President & CEO of the Rochester Area Community Foundation, said that the Boucher family has been giving philanthropically through the Community Foundation since 1980. She said that, "Ted was a former Board chair of ours and longtime donor," and expressed condolences to his family.
Anyone with information about the investigation is asked to call the Irondequoit Police Department (585-336-6000 )
