An MCC coach on leave following internal audit

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) — Monroe Community College has placed its four-time championship-winning women's basketball coach on leave as part of a series of self-imposed sanctions stemming from the findings of an internal audit conducted earlier this year.

MCC spokeswoman Cynthia Mapes says the violations are related to letters of intent and financial aid awarded to athletes last year. The National Junior College Athletic Association accepted the findings of the audit, and recommendations made by the school.

Mapes cited the school's confidentiality policy on personnel matters in declining to provide information on how the violations are linked to coach Tim Parrinello, who also holds the title of associate athletic director. She also couldn't provide a timetable for how long Parrinello will remain on leave.

Parrinello entered this season with a 580-83 record in 21 years at the school, winning three NJCAA Division II national titles, and a Division I title in 2006.
