Greece Police Offer Online Reporting System

The Greece Police Department has a new way for residents to report minor crimes or other issues where they don’t feel they need to have an officer come to their home.  The department will now provide the ability to report those types of incidents online, through software developed by a California company.

Greece Police Sergeant Jared Rene says it’s designed to make it more convenient for people who want to report certain types of crimes.

“Identity theft reports, petty larcenies, criminal mischief, lost property, they can update additional information into an existing report that they’ve previously filed”

Rene stresses that anytime a Greece resident would rather see an officer in person, they would be glad to do that. He says the new system will also help free up officers to respond to more urgent crime situations.

The new system also allows the person filing the information to get an emailed copy of the report from the police department.
