Henrietta firefighters remove Evelyn Gilchrist from her wrecked 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix after it hit a utility pole early Saturday.

A mother from Rochester and her 13-month old child were seriously injured in an early morning crash Saturday in Henrietta.

Monroe County Sheriffs deputies say the mother was charged with vehicular assault and DWI.

Just before 3 am, a deputy on patrol found a car crashed into a pole on West Henrietta Road at Commerce Drive.

Inside were 26-year old Evelyn Gilchrist and her baby.

After Henrietta firefighters got everyone out, Evelyn Gilchrist was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with two broken legs. Deputies say baby Jordan also broke a leg and was cut in several places.

Sheriffs spokesperson John Helfer tells WXXI Gilchrist may be arraigned Monday.
