RIT completes search for a new president

RIT has found someone to be its next president.

The university announced on Twitter and Facebook Monday that its national search is complete and its 10th president will be announced Wednesday, 11:00 a.m., at the Gordon Field House.

Current President Bill Destler announced last May that he will retire from that job in June of 2017. The 69 year old Destler will have been on the job for 10 years when he retires, with a career in higher education that has spanned more than 40 years.

When he spoke to WXXI News last year  about where he and his wife will live after retirement, Destler said it was not clear yet where they will settle, with Maryland or Rochester, both being possibilities.

Randy Gorbman is WXXI's director of news and public affairs. Randy manages the day-to-day operations of WXXI News on radio, television, and online.
