Hundreds of unemployed or underemployed veterans and soldiers were rubbing elbows with area employers Wednesday.
Veterans Outreach Center held its annual Veterans Job Expo at the Diplomat on Lyell Avenue. Gary Yaple is the head of the Outreach Center.
He says many vets have transferrable skills that emerging industries could utilize.
FedEx, Harris Communications and Wegmans were among the more than 100 employers at the job fair. The unemployment rate among post 9-11 vets in New York is nearly 10-percent. That's 2-percent higher than the national average.
