The Monroe County Department of Public Health said Thursday evening that it had received no reports of deaths caused by COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. That marks the third time in a week that the department recorded a day without a death from the disease.
The number of people in hospitals for COVID-19 treatment in the county fell to its lowest point in three weeks. The health department said Thursday that 151 people were hospitalized with the disease, 16 of them on ventilators in intensive care units.
The highest number of people hospitalized came on May 31, when the county reported 195 people in hospitals with COVID-19.
The county reported 21 newly confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus on Thursday. The people who tested positive for the virus included three people younger than 20 and two women in their 90s.
