Dick's Sporting Goods will be moving into a vacant-space at the Eastview Mall.
That's according to Victor Town Supervisor Jack Marren who says that the retail chain will move from its current location across the road on Route 96, into the Sears store, which was vacated by that company last year.
Marren says Dick's Sporting Goods will be doubling its size compared to the other store, and will add features like a fenced-in area where customers can try out products, as well as a rock climbing wall.
And Marren says the extra facilities will likely mean more jobs at that location.
“Staffing, they’ll have to increase their headcount there, so we know that’s a plus…anything from a regional standpoint where you can attract shoppers outside this region, I think it’s a plus for this region, and certainly we anticipate to see that as well,” Marren said.
There's no official comment on the move yet by either Dick's Sporting Goods or the operators of Eastview Mall. Marren is hoping the move can happen sometime next year.
Both Dick's Sporting Goods and officials at Eastview Mall are not commenting right now on the plans that Marren discussed.
