Kodak is getting ready to take down another building. And just as they did several years ago with some other buldings, they will demolish Building 53 by a controlled explosive demolition or “implosion.” That technique will be used to take down the roof and stacks of the building. It will happen on Saturday, July 18, at 8:00 a.m.
Kodak calls it part of the ongoing effort to transform and repurpose Eastman Business Park, “making room for the next generation of technology entrepreneurs…”
Officials say that noise and vibration from the implosions should be brief and moderate. They say there will be a concrete dust cloud in the vicinity of the building for a relatively brief period after the implosion and that “every effort will be made to manage dust afterwards during the removal of debris.”
Kodak demolished several buildings with implosions in 2007.
