The historic Dentzel carousel at Ontario Beach Park is open for the season, and Monroe County is kicking things off the way it always does — by offering free rides through Memorial Day.
This is the carousel's 119th season at the park. After Memorial Day it will be open on weekends until June 20, then it will operate every day of the week. Its hours are noon to 7 p.m.
One ride costs a dollar. A wrist band that allows for a full day of rides costs five dollars, and a 12-ride punch card costs $10.
The carousel has had some work done over the past couple of years. The floors have been repaired and refinished, the sound system updated, and new lighting installed.
