Bitter Cold & Snow To Start The Week
The week starts off with more traditional January weather for the Rochester area and much of Upstate NY.
The National Weather Service Lake Snow Advisory for counties including Monroe, Wayne, Orleans and Ontario is still in effect until 1pm Monday. A few inches of snow fell in some spots overnight, and the forecast calls for the possibility of another 1 to 3 inches in places affected by the most persistent lake snows, mostly near the Lake Ontario shoreline.
Throughout the region, temperatures have fallen sharply, into the mid teens. They will remain there during the day on Monday, and wind chills during the day may dip below zero at time. Brisk winds blowing whatever snow has fallen, along with the frigid temperatures is likely to make driving difficult on some roads. But as of mid-morning, there were no major accidents reported.
But the arctic blast will ease by mid-week, with a high near 40 by Thursday.
