The massive winter storm that pummeled our region with anywhere from one to two feet of snow is moving out, but Friday will feature a bitterly cold day with the high temperatures in the single numbers and the wind chill below that.

Snowfall amounts vary widely, but most areas got close to a foot of snow or more, with areas like Greece seeing 18 inches of accumulation. The National Weather Service is calling for a little more accumulation during the day on Friday.

The weather service has canceled the winter storm warning, but there is a wind chill advisory in effect until Noon on Friday, with wind chills down as low as 20 degrees below zero at times. Then, there is a another wind chill advisory in effect from 9pm Friday until 4am on Saturday.

On Friday morning there continued to be a number of flights canceled or delayed out of the Rochester airport because of problems affecting northeast cities. You can check the status of flights a the Monroe County website.

Although many schools are off for vacation this week, there are still a number of closings and cancelations. You can check that here.

The problems persist across the Northeast, including downstate, where Governor Cuomo said some highways were closed overnight to aid with the snow removal operations and for safety considerations. The Thruway south of Albany was closed overnight, with passenger cars allowed on that part of the highway beginning at 5:00 a.m., and commercial vehicles by 8:00 a.m.
