The New York Times reports that "President Trump proposed chopping funding at the National Cancer Institute by more than $2.7 billion, nearly a 40 percent decrease." It's part of a significant cut to the National Institutes of Health.

Our guests work in cancer research and treatment. They discuss the possible impact of this news, as well as the state of cancer care.

Evan Dawson is the host of "Connections with Evan Dawson." He joined WXXI in January 2014 after working at 13WHAM-TV, where he served as morning news anchor. He was hired as a reporter for 13WHAM-TV in 2003 before being promoted to anchor in 2007.

Julie Williams is an associate producer for "Connections with Evan Dawson" and is also the office administrator for radio, news and technology and operations. She started at WXXI in 2019 and has been working on Connections since 2022.
