Wegmans has revealed the date for its first New York City location. That store in Brooklyn is scheduled to open on October 27.

The company says it is now hiring and training to fill 350 part-time jobs at its first New York City location.

Recruitment for 150 full-time positions for that store began in January and is ongoing. In total, the Brooklyn Wegmans will employ 500 people.

Wegmans has said the Brooklyn store will be smaller than the larger markets, like the one in Pittsford.  It is more of an urban design, a bit closer to the type of store it has on East Avenue in Rochester.

Before the Brooklyn store opens, Wegmans expects to open its 100th location in Raleigh, North Carolina at the end of September.
