Kodak Alaris Releases New "Kodak Moments" App

Kodak Alaris, the company that was spun off from Kodak a couple of years ago, is out with a new photo sharing app.  It's called "Kodak Moments" and the idea is to provide a more personalized way that you can tell stories around the photos that you want to share.

“What we’ve done  is able to let them transform these special memories and photos into a special Kodak moment in a safe and secure place that’s not cluttered with what you’ve had for lunch and a lot of political ads and other things, it’s completely ad free,” said Nikki Zongrone, President of the Imaging Consumer Division of Kodak Alaris.

She told WXXI News this is not meant to compete with social media sites like Facebook and Instagram, but rather to provide a more meaningful way to share pictures.

Zongrone says the new App has no ads on it, but Kodak Alaris hopes to generate revenue by making it easy for people to use Kodak Alaris locations at various retailers to print their photos.

“We allow printing to our retail partners, in the U.S, it’s CVS, Target, Bartell Drugs, and we also connect consumers to be able to get their products delivered directly to home.”

The app is being showcased at the South by Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas  this weekend with an interactive exhibit.
