Assemblyman David Gantt was involved in an accident on Thursday night. Police say they responded to 271 Central Park for a report of an accident with injuries.
They say that the driver of a Dodge van was traveling east on Central Park when the driver of a Chevy four-door sedan became distracted and drove through the intersection, hitting the van.
Four people in the van were taken to Rochester General Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. All four were treated and released.
The driver of the sedan was ticketed for disobeying a traffic control device and the van driver was ticketed for being an unlicensed operator and failure to wear a seatbelt.
Police did not indicate who was driving each vehicle.
Gantt’s office released this statement:
"Yesterday evening, Assemblyman David F. Gantt (D-Rochester) was involved in an automobile accident in which several people were injured. Both parties were ticketed, and alcohol was not a contributing factor in the accident.
Fortunately, Assemblyman Gantt is at home recovering. He asks that you keep him and the other passengers involved in the accident in your prayers. He will have no further comment at this time."
