Buckland Park in Brighton is about to get bigger.
Town Supervisor Bill Moehle announced the town acquired 26.3 acres of land from Faith Temple on Westfall Road.
He says right now there are no plans for what will go on it, but they have some ideas.
"We need to look into the future, looking to preserve our quality of life, look at developing a community center facility there, I think that will be a real benefit to our residents."
He says any development on the park will include public input moving forward.
The purchase cost the town approximately $1.2 million.
"It’s going to cost the average homeowner about a latte a year. It’s going to cost about $5.50 a year, probably a little less than that."
Moehle says it’s important to protect and add to the many amenities the park already offers, from ball fields to trails, as well as meadows and lodges.
The Brighton Veterans Memorial, community garden, and historic Buckland House are all in the park as well.
Buckland Park will now be the largest park in Brighton.
