The former wife of the man who was known as the "D.C. Sniper" was the guest speaker Tuesday at a fundraiser for the Willow Domestic Violence Center.
Mildred Muhammad said before her former husband and his 17-year old accomplice, Lee Malvo, killed 10 people in the 2002 Washington area sniper attacks, John Muhammad used a kind of psychological warfare against her.
"So he would do the crazy making, where you say one thing but he makes you feel like you're saying something else. Or he would try to make me doubt what I was saying because I was not clear, or 'That's not what I said, but that's what I meant.' "
John Allen Muhammad was executed by lethal injection in November, 2009. Mildred Muhammad says she and her three children have healed from their emotional pain. She now travels around the country to speak out against domestic violence.
