Kiosk Allows For Easy Access To Social Security Benefits

The Central Library in Downtown Rochester is now home to one of the few Social Security Express kiosks in the country. The electronic station can be found on the fourth floor, where Social Security Administration and library staff hope it will provide critical services to the community.

Tom Ragonese is the District Manager for the Social Security Office. He says people can use the station to estimate retirement benefits, change their direct deposit information, and print letters and tax forms.

"A lot of these papers are important for our clients to have, especially our needy clients who might not have access at home."

Library Director Patty Uttaro says this addition helps further the public library's mission of serving the public.

"Library staff help people every day with navigating online services, and adding an interactive service such as the Social Security Administration kiosk will only enhance the library's ability to connect customers to the critical services they need."

The service station is the only one of its kind in the state. This addition coincides with the Social Security Administration's 80th year.
