Memorial Services Set For Jacques "Jack" Lipson

Memorial services have now been scheduled for a well-known local philanthropist. Dr. Jacques Lipson, better known to his friends as  “Jack,"  died  Tuesday after a long illness. He was 84 years old.

He and his wife Dawn Lipson have contributed to numerous organizations, particularly in the area of the arts and education.

And it is their name that is on the Lipson Cancer Center at Rochester General Hospital. 

A Memorial Service will be held at Temple Beth El, 139 Winton Road S. on Sunday at 3 PM.

A Celebration of Dr. Lipson’s life will immediately follow at Irondequoit Country Club, 4045 East Ave until 7 PM. 

The family will continue receiving friends at Irondequoit CC on Tuesday and Wednesday from 3-7 PM. 

Donations can be made to the Lipson Cancer Center, The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Geva Theater or WXXI in his memory. 

Before retiring in March 2025, Randy Gorbman was WXXI's director of news and public affairs and managed the day-to-day operations of WXXI News on radio, television, and online.
