RPD Says It Has Video Footage Of Police Shooting

Rochester Police apparently have video footage of the incident that led to a police officer’s death on Wednesday night on Hudson Avenue.

Court documents refer to video surveillance obtained from several area businesses, which police officials allege show the suspect, Thomas Johnson, shooting Officer Daryl Pierson, attempted to shoot Officer Michael DiPaola and wounding a bystander.

The court papers also say police have a statement from Johnson in which he admits to being at the location where the incident happened and identified himself in the video.

Johnson faces eight felonies including aggravated murder. He entered a not guilty plea at an arraignment in his hospital room on Thursday night. Johnson suffered a gunshot wound in the confrontation.
