Congresswoman Louise Slaughter's Husband Has Died

Robert  Slaughter, the husband of Rochester area Congresswoman Louise Slaughter has died.  He died in Washington, D.C.

Mrs. Slaughter's office released the following statement on Tuesday:

It gives us great sorrow to share the news that Louise’s husband of 57 years, Robert Slaughter, passed away today in Washington D.C. at the age of 82. Mrs. Slaughter and her family deeply appreciate the thoughts and prayers of the community as they work through this difficult time.

Louise Slaughter, a Democrat from Fairport, has represented this area since 1987. The couple met in Texas while she worked for a chemicals manufacturer. After getting married, they moved to  Fairport, where they raised three daughters.

Her husband retired as a legal administrator for Kodak.
