On Friday, members of the University of Rochester School of Medicine class of 2014 will receive their degrees.

Among those newly graduated doctors will be Claire Melin of Philadelphia.

Claire will become the third generation of women in her family to get a medical degree.

She follows in the footsteps of her mother and her grandmother, who started at New York's Downstate medical school in 1947.

Beth Adams joined WXXI as host of Morning Edition in 2012 after a more than two-decade radio career. She was the longtime host of the WHAM Morning News in Rochester. Her career also took her from radio stations in Elmira, New York, to Miami, Florida.
