Here's a firearm that is newly compliant under the law, following a minor modification.

First hour: Is the SAFE Act too easily circumvented?

Second hour: Oscar-winning documentarian Robin Lehman

In our first hour, is the SAFE Act too easily circumvented? Ben Piatt, a father of two young children, is like thousands of New Yorkers. He owns firearms, and he did not want to register his assault rifle. He says his friends simply ignored the registration deadline, but he decided to "reconfigure" his assault rifle by essentially changing one small piece of plastic. The firearm is now compliant under the law. He'll explain in more detail how gun owners are circumventing this legislation. His concern is that the law has not achieved much, while alienating gun owners. But NYers Against Gun Violence supports the law, saying any registration is better than no registration.

In our second hour, Robin Lehman is Forever Young. That was his Oscar-winning documentary, and as he gets older, he's finding himself the subject of what earned that award. Lehman is participating in a discussion at The Little on Tuesday; today, he talks with us about aging, his film, and how he views his work more than 30 years after it was recognized in Hollywood.
