"The Pocket" Neighborhood Targeted for Beautification

www.northwinton.org

Neighbors and business owners are getting together this coming Saturday for a project to instill pride and revitalize a section of North Winton Village known as "The Pocket."

Elijah Wade, program manager for the organization NeighborWorks, says 6 cross walks will be painted on Kansas, Akron and Woodstock Streets.

He says efforts like this work to brand and reposition neighborhoods as a destination. “In this neighborhood, we moved real estate values 20%. We’ve moved real estate values in The Pocket Neighborhood against an approximate 2% average in the City of Rochester.”

Wade says NeighborWorks identifies neighborhoods in transition that can benefit from organizing around a common goal.

Similar projects were targeted for the Brooks Landing and Swillburg areas.
