Lt. Governor Bob Duffy, the former Rochester Mayor, reportedly has withdrawn his name from consideration to be the next leader of the Rochester Business Alliance. That according to the Albany Times Union, which says that Duffy did interview with the Alliance earlier this month, about the slot that Sandy Parker will eventually be retiring from. Parker announced just recently she would be staying on past her expected retirement at the end of the year, so that she could help the RBA and the Rochester area deal with some important changes and projects.
A spokeswoman for Governor Cuomo is quoted as saying that Duffy did interview with the RBA on October 5th, but then took himself out of the job 10 days later after reconsidering. The spokeswoman, Melissa DeRosa, told the Albany newspaper that Duffy has committed to staying on as Lieutenant Governor until his term ends next year.
The Democrat and Chronicle quotes Duffy as confirming that he did apply for the RBA job, but then voluntarily withdrew. Duffy denied a report in the Albany paper that questions about ethics regulations prompted his withdrawal from consideration. He indicated there were some inferences being made that were counterproductive to the organization and to him and his family.
