University of Rochester officials say they're thrilled with the news from Albany that Governor Cuomo is promising $100 million in funding to cover the cost of road improvements around the university's River Campus and medical center.
The university's chief operating officer, Peter Robinson, says the biggest part of the project will be a new interchange between I-390 and Kendrick Road taking pressure off other congested roads leading into and out of the campus.
The university has been pressing for the new interchange for four years. Robinson says job growth at the U of R, which has been adding 500 to 1000 new jobs a year, has added to the congestion and the need for better road access.
