Officials with the Rochester City School District on Friday issued an update on the status of Dan Lowengard, the man who just took over as interim Supt. after the resignation of Bolgen Vargas.
Lowengard was speaking to a Rochester Teachers' Association group in Brighton Thursday night when he collapsed. On Friday morning, he was listed in guarded condition at Strong Hospital.
A statement that went out from Deputy Superintendents Adele Bovard and Christiana Otuwa to all district staff says Lowengard is in good spirits and resting comfortably at the hospital where doctors are still running tests.
They say that Lowengard wanted to convey his deep appreciation for the many expressions of support he has received. The statement also says officials are optimistic Lowengard will be back at work very soon.
