Wegmans is opening another store this weekend, but this one is a little different in terms of its design.
The Rochester-based supermarket chain is opening a two level store in Natick, in the Boston area on Sunday.
The more than 146,000 square foot store is among Wegmans’ largest stores. It is attached to the Natick Mall, and includes a cart conveyor system with an adjacent escalator for customers.
This will be Wegmans sixth store in New England. The company has talked about opening a store in the City of Boston, but that hasn’t happened yet.
The Boston Globe notes that a proposal for a Wegmans in the Fenway neighborhood of Boston didn’t work out, but quotes Danny Wegman as saying the company will keep looking.
Wegmans is opening stores this year in Chantilly, Virginia and Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The company has 96 stores overall.
