Lakeside Lays Out Closure Plans

Officials at Lakeside Hospital in Brockport are laying out more details about the closure of that facility.  And those plans do not call for keeping a small number of emergency beds open as had been discussed previously.
 
Hospital officials had said they were working with state health officials to try and keep the emergency department open. But now Lakeside says that the state has concluded that it will be unable to provide the money needed for the hospital to move forward.
 
Lakeside has already stopped accepting inpatient admissions, and as of this coming Friday, no new patients will be seen at the Emergency Department after 2:00 p.m.. Diagnostic, imaging and lab services will end at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.  Next Saturday, any remaining inpatients will be transferred to area hospitals.
 
Decisions related to the ongoing viability of Lakeside's two primary care practices, an urgent care facility in Spencerport and the Beikirch nursing facility  will be made within the next month.
