Riga's Jenn Suhr, battling illness, fails to medal in the pole vault at the Olympics

(AP & WXXI News) Jenn Suhr, the Riga resident and gold medalist at the 2012 London Olympics, is out of medal contention in the women's pole vault after failing to clear 4.70 meters. She finished in 7th place on Friday night.

The 34-year-old American had been sick and was "coughing up blood," her husband/coach RickSuhr said before Friday's final. She has been ill all week, including on Tuesday when she qualified for the medal round.

Suhr, the 2012 Olympic champion, failed to clear 4.7 meters on her three attempts. She finished in seventh place
