Nazareth College postponing commencement

Nazareth College

Nazareth College is one of the latest colleges and universities to cancel or postpone commencement ceremonies due to the coronavirus.

Nazareth President Daan Braveman put out a letter on Thursday saying that, “To ensure that our graduating students' hard work and achievements are commemorated properly, we are working to move the undergraduate and graduate Commencement ceremonies from May to July - and will follow up with the exact dates as soon as they are available.”

Braveman said that all graduating students will still officially have earned their degrees as of May 8-9, and diplomas will be mailed shortly thereafter.

He said that he fully understands the disappointment, especially because this will be his last commencement at Nazareth. But Braveman said that, “These decisions have been difficult, yet necessary, to protect everyone's health.”

RIT and the College at Brockport are among other area schools that have canceled or postponed commencement.
