A young man reported missing in Greece on New Year's Day has apparently been found in Washington D.C. with the help of a newspaper photograph.

Greece Police say that 20 year old Nicholas Simmons was located after his picture was taken by an Associated Press photographer.

The photo ran in USA Today and it was also published in Sunday's Democrat and Chronicle. The picture ran in a story about cold weather sweeping the country and the photo referred to a homeless man wrapped in a blanket named " Nick," just blocks from the U.S. Capitol.

Police say Simmons' family recognized him and Greece officers contacted Washington DC Metro Police who located Simmons. Authorities say that Simmons was taken to George Washington University Hospital as a precaution.

A Facebook post from his family said that Simmons "is alive but obviously not well, " and that they would get him home and safe.

USA Today and the D & C report that the AP photographer, Jacquelyn Martin graduated from RIT in 2001 with a fine arts degree.
