Mayor Warren, who endorsed Mike Bloomberg, praises decision to drop out of the presidential race

With Mike Bloomberg suspending his campaign for the Democratic nomination for President, it changes some plans in Rochester.

Mayor Lovely Warren, who endorsed Bloomberg last month, was originally scheduled to help supporters of the former New York City Mayor open a field office in Rochester on East Main Street on Thursday. That won’t happen now.

But Bloomberg on Wednesday morning said that "Three months ago, I entered the race for President to defeat Donald Trump, "Today, I am leaving the race for the same reason: to defeat Donald Trump — because it is clear to me that staying in would make achieving that goal more difficult."  Bloomberg said in a statement that after Super Tuesday’s results, “the delegate math has become virtually impossible,” and he threw his support behind former Vice President Joe Biden, who won most of the 14 states voting on Tuesday.

On her Facebook page, Mayor Warren had this statement:

"Our only goal is to win the White House. I commend Mayor Bloomberg for stepping aside to support Vice President Biden. It’s time for us to move forward as Democrats unified and focused on defeating Trump to preserve and protect American Dream for everyone. I will work tirelessly to do so."
