The University of Rochester is mourning the passing of Bob Witmer. He was 82.
UR officials say that Witmer, an alumnus of the university, served as a member of its Board of Trustees for 40 years, including serving as chair from 2003 to 2008.
A statement from the university says that the university “benefitted greatly from his leadership and counsel.” UR says that Witmer was a deeply committed community leader and a highly respected legal advisor.
He was a retired partner at the law firm Nixon Peabody. Witmer was also a past president of the New York State Bar Association.
Details about funeral arrangements are not available yet.
