3-Alarm Fire at Mt. Hope Plaza in Rochester

TWC News

Dozens of firefighters fought a three-alarm fire at a strip mall on Mt. Hope Avenue in Rochester on Saturday night. The fire was reported at about 9:30 p.m. and several of the businesses were still open at the time of the fire.

Fire officials say the fire apparently was due to a cooking fire at the Jing Li  restaurant at Mt. Hope Plaza.

Authorities made it a three-alarm fire to get additional resources to the scene because of the size of the plaza buildings and to prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent businesses.

Most of the fire damage was contained to the restaurant with some smoke and water damage to surrounding businesses.

About 60 firefighters responded to the scene, and fire departments from some nearby towns responded to provide coverage at city fire houses.

There were no civilian or firefighter injuries.
