Canandaigua Police have requested that State Police investigate an officer-involved shooting that happened Saturday afternoon.
Officers were called to a report of a a man with a knife chasing a woman on Eastern Blvd. around 1:35 p.m.
A Canandaigua Police officer found the male armed with what police described as “an edged weapon.” Police say the office told the man to drop the weapon and get on the ground, but the man didn’t, and he advanced toward the officer. The officer shot the suspect one time.
Ontario County deputies were also called in to help.
Police say the woman was stabbed multiple times; both the woman and the suspect were taken to the hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
