Authorities investigate homicide in Brockport

Spectrum News

Brockport Police and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Dept. are investigating a homicide. They say the victim is 33 year old Megan Dix of Lyndonville in Orleans County.

She was found dead Friday night, with a single gunshot wound to the head.

Police say she worked at Lowe’s in Brockport and parked her vehicle nearby for her lunch break around 1:00 p.m. on Friday. She never returned to work.

Brockport Police were called to South Avenue around 8pm on Friday. According to Spectrum News, officers there found Dix dead inside a black pickup truck in a parking lot used for people on the nearby footpath.

Brockport Police Chief Dan Varrenti says authorities are asking for people who may have seen other vehicles in the parking lot, anytime during the day, or if they themselves were in that parking lot, to call police.

Officials don’t believe this was a random act of violence. Anyone with information is asked to call either 911 or the Monroe County Sheriff's Office at 585-753-4178.
