Buyer announced for Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School

crcds.edu

The owners of Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School have announced that the company that they are selling the 24 acre property to on South Goodman Street is a local development company, called Top Capital.

That company plans to invest $36 million in the property, renovating the historic campus into a hotel and conference center.

Jim Payne is director of marketing for Top Capital. He thinks the school property can become a very desirable destination.

“The buildings themselves are so beautiful that we think it’s going to make a really unique property that not only the people in the Rochester area are going to enjoy but a property that people will come from outside the region,  from all around the country, maybe internationally to enjoy.”

As part of this deal, Top Capital will construct a new building on the campus to be used by the divinity school which has wanted to get away from having to manage a large, underutilized physical plant.

There is no specific timetable yet for completion of the new hotel and conference center.

Before retiring in March 2025, Randy Gorbman was WXXI's director of news and public affairs and managed the day-to-day operations of WXXI News on radio, television, and online.
